Special Offers create queues at J&C’s Chippy

Everyone knows that times are hard but James Cooke from J&C’s Chippy has shown that you can still create queues outside your shop.  To find out what percentage of people would come through his door, James given a series of special offers in his shop which is really making a difference.

‘People turn on the TV and all they hear is bad news; times are hard and everyone is looking for a bargain especially in the run up to Christmas’ James explained.  ‘I wanted to find out if people would spend the money when they feel they’re having a bargain.’

Firstly James advertised locally and produced flyers telling everyone that on Saturday 22 October he had an offer of fish and chips for only £2.00.  He explained that he was celebrating the fact that two years ago he invested in his Florigo range, saying that he only provides the best for his customers and so he invested his money in the ‘Rolls Royce’ of ranges.

This offer was so successful that for the past four Saturdays, he is putting another offer on: £3.00 for fish and chips which is not only proving just as popular as the first offer but it’s also carried out his original intention: he’s discovering more about people’s spending habits.

‘I would say that about 96% of the customers who come through the door are local and the offer has now revived the hunger for fish and chips locally.  We’re seeing that people come back during the week which is brilliant.  Whilst our margins may be cut at the moment, we’ll get more turnover in the long run’, James explained.

‘We’re here to survive,’ James said and he’s certainly going the right way about it!
