Richardsons & Florigo - Not just any Fish & Chips!
Richardsons Fresh Fish have been supplying wet fish to customers, both retail and wholesale, for the last 33 years - Chris himself left school and went straight into the family business learning from scratch about quality products and how to market it.
Four years ago a local, well renowned, Fish & Chip Shop came onto the market and Richardsons (having supplied them for many years) decided to expand their company and invest. Chris Richardson became the manager and has now learnt about the Fish & Chip industry from scratch too!
Chris saw another opportunity on Boxing Day 2005, when another local shop closed its doors, this time it had to have change of use and planning permission but Chris knew that all the hard work would be worth his time and effort as he saw the potential the site had. He wanted not only to continue offering quality Fish & Chips but he knew the area would appreciate a restaurant too.
Chris knew exactly what he wanted from a range, he knew he wanted High Efficiency and the latest technology - after thoroughly researching what the market had to offer he decided on a Florigo, ' I chose a Florigo' says Chris, 'because Robert Furey explained to me all of the benefits of investing in one & I knew immediately that it would be the perfect range for me'.
Robert Furey and Chris Richardson worked together to create the perfect range for Chris & Mandy's needs - a bespoke, hand crafted counter range with High Efficiency Fish & Chip Pans with Flotronic computer controls - they decided on a counter either end of his range that could service both his takeaway clients and the restaurant at the same time (with a plate warmer on the restaurant counter to ensure optimum quality) - they even opted for a dark wood veneer front to his range and counter which compliments the modern, stylish & contemporary décor of the shop.
Chris & Mandy finally opened the doors to Richardsons Fish Bar in July 2006 to rave reviews, only 7 days after they opened he was awarded a Seafish Quality Award!Adam Lane, one of Chris's young fryers has also been awarded a scholarship at the Fish Fryers Federation - something Chris supports wholeheartedly - He is now looking for the next premises and, if he has time, is also hoping to enter the Fish & Chip Shop of the year 2007.
Customers have been amazed by the outstanding quality of his product and the stunning presentation - all his hard work has been well worth it. The business has so far exceeded all his expectations and knowing he has found a winning formula is hoping to expand the Richardsons Empire soon!
